PDM 130 Drawing and Composition Class in Florence Italy
The Principles of Drawing and Composition course is a student’s introduction to basic figure, shape, and still life drawing as well as the use of standard artistic mediums. This beginner course examines natural objects as symbols while challenging students of art to interpret their own meanings as they learn the basics of drawing and composition.
The Principles of Drawing and Composition course will focus on drawing figures and objects. Lessons are broken into specific topics including still life, human figure, architecture, and nature. Students will gain experience working with mediums such as charcoal, pencil, and other various media.
The PDM 130 Principles of Drawing and Composition course is taught at the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute in Florence Italy, through the Marist four-year study abroad program. While enrolled in the drawing and composition course works of art, famous to the city of Florence, will serve as the inspiration for this principle drawing course. Marist Italy students will gain an appreciation for studies in the media’s of art and be encouraged to develop beyond the basic skills learned in this course.
